How Much Does a Used EV Cost?

Want to save the planet, or just want to drive an awesome electric vehicle? Great! But why buy new when you can buy used and save some of that hard-earned money?

Electric vehicles, better known as EVs, are one of the world’s fastest-growing car types. EVs offer drivers things that regular cars just can’t. Not only do EVs not use fuel, which will save their owners tons of money, but some you can find used for amazing prices with lots of life still left in them. But with almost every carmaker in the world starting to manufacture EVs, save for Toyota, it can be difficult to identify which ones are good to buy and which ones should be avoided. Take Mazda, for example. They make amazing cars, but when it comes to making EVs, they have not quite figured it out. Tesla, Hyundai, and Ford are winning the race for making EVs designed for the consumer. That is why they are the focus of this article.

Not a Bad Idea

Many consumers fear that buying a used EV is a bad idea. Some fear that the batteries have been damaged or just won’t work like they used to. Rest assured, these car makers have designed these EVs to last just as long as their traditional-engine vehicles. Teslas, for example, are still thriving, and not only do they get lots of miles in range, but they have long lifespans too. When it comes to buying used EVs, you can treat them just as you would any other car that you buy used.

Tesla

Despite Tesla not being the producer of the best EVs in the world, they are up there. Some carmakers, such as Porsche and Hummer, don’t exactly make EVs for the average consumer. Rather, they make EVs geared toward specialty customers who would pay anything for anything. This is not the case for Tesla.

Tesla makes great EVs, spectacular even, that are meant to get you where you are going in fantastic style. Tesla offers the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X. Out of all these models; you can find some as cheap as $40,000. That might sound expensive, but remember you are not paying for gas. Ever.

Hyundai

Hyundai is known for its amazing used cars. They are also getting more known for their EVs, such as the Hyundai Ioniq, which some believe is just as good as the Tesla. With tons of range and a super cool design, this would be a great used purchase. The Ioniq 6 is its newest model, so you probably won’t be able to find a cheap one, but the classic Ioniq can be found as cheap as $23,000 in some places. Worth it.

Ford

Ford is the dark horse on this list. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a sweet vehicle, but it definitely isn’t as impressive as Tesla and Hyundai. That said, it is a good EV and should be considered one of the best. A used Mach-E will most likely go for somewhere in the ballpark of $35,000.
