After Five Weeks Who Leads the MLB Power Rankings?

With a little over a month gone in the Major League Baseball (MLB) season, we take a look at which teams are at the top of the power rankings.

The teams at the top might not have the best record in the league, but they are showing the most strength and momentum over the past week. With that in mind, let’s see where all MLB teams fall this week.

Leading the Pack, the Los Angeles Dodgers

It might be a long time before the Dodgers are dethroned and no longer at the top of this list. Currently, this team holds a 17-12 record and has been at or near the top all seasons. As the Dodgers look to defend their World Series title, the rest of the league needs to be on notice that this team is looking for a way to repeat.

The San Diego Padres are in Second

When you want to create a bit of a rivalry, there’s nothing better than having two solid teams at the top of the league. With several matches between them, we will have a lot of fun watching the Padres take on the Dodgers all season. Currently, the Padres bring a 17-13 record through five weeks, giving us a strong team that could be standing at the end of the season.

The Oakland As are Third in the MLB Power Rankings

The first of the American League teams on this list is the Oakland As who continues to be one of the toughest teams to play in the league. With a record of 18-12, the As are off to a great start and have players that are showing up in the field and at the plate every night. Can this team carry forward and put together a full season of great play?

Coming in Fourth, We See the Milwaukee Brewers

The return of a couple of key players in the lineup has rocketed the Brewers from seventh to fourth in the MLB Power Rankings. This team has a 17-12 record and could be one of the toughest teams for others to face during the season. The Brewers recently took three out of four games from the Dodgers, which shows their strength.

The Fifth Spot Belongs to the St. Louis Cardinals

One of the biggest jumps on this list belongs to the Cardinals who moved from 16 to the fifth spot. This team has a 17-12 record and continues to look great at the plate where they seem to score a lot of runs. If the bats stay hot, the Cardinals may be the team to represent the NL Central when it comes time for the playoffs.

The Boston Red Sox are Looking Good

The sixth spot in the MLB Power Rankings belongs to the Boston Red Sox who may have lost a few games recently but still hold a 17-12 record. Will the Red Sox outlast the strength of the Yankees in the AL East? Can this team that looked like it was in rebuild mode be one of the contenders at the end? There’s a lot of season left to go in the MLB to tell the story.

The Houston Astros Find Their Way to the Seventh Spot

After winning eight of eleven games, the Astros have moved from the tenth position on this list to be the seventh strongest team. Their record through five weeks is 15-13, which is pretty good when you consider the number of recent wins. The Astros might be the bad boys of baseball right now, but they also might be one of the top teams in the league.

We See the Kansas City Royals in the Eighth Spot

The Royals were in this position last week and they remain there for at least another week. Their current record of 16-11 is strong and gives them the position they want early in the season. It will be interesting to see if this team can continue to be one of the leading teams in the MLB Power Rankings or if time will catch up to them.
