Looking at the MLB Power Rankings for Week 4

The Major League Baseball season is underway and the grueling 162-game schedule offers excitement, fun, and the MLB Power Rankings.

While some feel that baseball is a sport where you don’t look at the standings until at least one-third of the season is gone, we are going to review where each team stands after each week is completed. With that in mind, let’s begin with the rankings after four weeks of the season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are on Top

It should come as no surprise that the Dodgers are leading the way on this list. This team has been hot from the start and is ready to take on the entire league. They currently hold a 16-9 record and have some of the most consistent and best players in the league on their team. The Dodgers are certainly going to be a team to watch all year long.

Coming in Second, We See the San Diego Padres

With a record of 14-12 after four weeks, the Padres may not have the second-best record in the MLB, but they certainly have a strong team. This puts them in the runner-up spot on the Power Rankings list. Could we see a serious rivalry brewing between the Padres and Dodgers? That could be the case and as we head down to the latter half of the season, it might become a full-blown melee.

The Bronze Medal Goes to the Oakland Athletics

Not exactly one of the top records in the league, but the A’s have a 15-10 record right now and continue to work with young players they can put on the field at low prices. Expect this team to tear up the American League West this year and possibly represent the Junior Circuit when it’s time for the World Series.

The Boston Red Sox are Red Hot at Fourth

Matching the record of the top team in the MLB Power Rankings, the Red Sox hold a 16-9 record and have a team that’s poised to have a great season. It seems the only thing that might derail this team would be injuries. Now that their manager is back at the helm, the Red Sox just might be the team to beat all year.

The San Francisco Giants Come in Fifth

Riding strong pitching with a staff that currently has the lowest ERA in the sport, the Giants have a 16-9 record and find their way to fifth on this list. If the bats get hot for the Giants it’s going to be a serious dogfight in the NL West this year. So far, three of the teams in that division are in the top of the power rankings.

Sixth Place Goes to the Milwaukee Brewers

Carrying a 14-10 record through four weeks brings theBrewers to the sixth spot in the MLB Power Rankings. This team is currently at the top of the NL Central and may be the team to represent that division in the playoffs. This team has some great pitching and could be a tough out throughout the season, making it hard for other teams to reach the top.

Seventh Goes to the Chicago White Sox

Will we see a team from the Windy City in the playoffs this year? It’s a long season and only time will tell but the White Sox are currently in the seventh spot on this list despite a 12-10 record that doesn’t have them leading their own division. Even so, this team looks to be ready to have success throughout the season.

The Eighth Spot Goes to the Kansas City Royals

For a few days of the year, the Kansas City Royals have had the best record in baseball. Currently at 15-8, this team has a lead that might be hard for others to overcome, especially if they keep on winning. It’s still early in the season, but that doesn’t mean this record is anything to scoff at when you’re considering that wins and losses determine playoff position.
