Upcoming Blockbusters for 2018

Whether you love the hot weather or the promise of a world without snow, the summer is usually one of the most anticipated times of the year for a lot of people. School-age kids aside, people start to ache for the summer as soon as the first signs of spring start to appear. Once the trees start to regain their leaves, everyone starts counting down to vacation season, the kids being out of school, or most of all, the summer blockbuster season. As a culture of people who have embraced the perfection of cinematic endeavors, complete with buckets of popcorn soaked with faux butter and tall sodas that are mostly ice, the summer blockbuster season is quite exciting. Starting during the harsh winds of winter, the teaser trailers coax us out of doldrums and arouse the sense of anticipation within us. Between the internet and the commercial spots, most of the people in the world are ready for the best flicks on the silver screen before they’re even close to coming out.

2018 LineupThe Avengers:

Infinity War -In May, people are already champing at the bit for the newest Avengers movie, and this one doesn’t look like it is going to disappoint the fans. Loaded with, not only, the original Avengers team, but famous faces like Doctor Who, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and other Marvel heroes, this movie is going to be action-packed and star-studded. This film hits theaters on May 4, 2018, and has its eye on the prize of one billion in revenue.

Star Wars: Han Solo –You put the name Star Wars on a movie screen and it’s going to pull in mega-bucks! This film is releasing on May 25 and will chronicle the pre-Star Wars life of Chewie and Hans Solo. Featuring Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, and Donald Glover, this film is guaranteed to be spliced with humorous moments as well as classic Star Wars action sequences.

Deadpool 2 (Working Title) –As of right now, no one has come out to correct the simply titled sequel to its foul-mouthed and graphic predecessor. Ryan Reynolds is suited up and ready to take on the Star Wars movie, almost head to head. Expect some serious curse words and Reynolds’ quippy persona, but most of all, expect this June 1 release to do some serious competition with the other movies on the market!

Jurassic World 2 –Dinosaurs put up box office numbers and when they’re combined with the incredibly attractive Chris Pratt, they rake in the dough! Fans have been (im)patiently waiting for this movie since they saw the first one in theaters. The tease of a sequel was announced shortly after the original premiere and fans have been on the edge of their seats ever since. Come June 22, fans will be reunited with Owen, Claire, and even Dr. Ian Malcolm.

Hotel Transylvania3–With a bunch of superhero movies coming out this summer, parents are super stoked for movie season, but there isn’t that much going on for the kids… or is there? This summer boasts the release of the third chapter of Hotel Transylvania, featuring the comedic animated stylings of Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi, and Andy Samberg. With its only competition being The Incredible sequel, this powerhouse film series is promising to be a good time for the kids and parents alike. Check it out on July 13.

Holmes and Watson –The comedic duo responsible for the outrageous success and quotable lines that were Stepbrothers are reteaming for a hilarious reboot of the famous detective and his sidekick. Packed with superstars –not just Will Ferrell and John C Reilly –this movie is penned by the writer of Get Hard and hits theaters on August 3.

While there are others set to hit the big screen this summer, these are the most anticipated. Also coming soon are Scarface, a Predator reboot, and ANOTHER Mission Impossible flick. How many of these blockbuster films are you stoked to see this summer?
