Great Britain – Add Another Country to the Environmental EV List

Over the past several months, different countries like Great Britain have announced they will begin to ban the sale of vehicles that are sold that need to be powered by either diesel or gasoline. While they cannot make these different bans take place right away, many of them have chosen the same year as the one to set the ban for. The idea of banning the sale of these vehicles is to help clean up the air and sell more hybrid and EV models in an effort to protect the environment that we all need in order to be able to live.

Great Britain Joins The Movement

The latest country to add themselves to the list is Great Britain. This country will join France and Norway in an effort to ban the sales beginning in 2040 which is how these countries will tackle the need to clean up the air. This latest announcement was presented by the Environment Secretary Michael Gove. With the goal of EV models being offered in greater quantities, the expectation is that pollution will be reduced significantly when this ban takes effect. This is a significant move in a country that has been part of the automotive industry since the beginning.
In order to make this happen and possible the government of Great Britain is expected to announce a fund that will equate to $326 million that will help fund local communities to address the diesel pollution already in place. The ability to address the cleaning up of the air and help to create a mandate that will reduce the amount of pollution by vehicles to zero is an impressive and amazing movement forward for the country. This change will take time and certainly, there will be a reduction over a period of years that will make this a reality by the year stated.
This movement will require more than just funding for the air to be cleaned up but also require the creation of clean air zones and a diesel scrappage scheme that will help to pull these vehicles off the roads entirely. As the third country in Europe to join in and make this change, more can be expected in the future as we see the need to have the air cleaned up and made safer for breathing and using on a daily basis. With these mandates, the growth of the EV market will be endless in the future.
Does this mean we’re only going to see EV models or will the hydrogen-powered vehicles finally begin to emerge and become popular? The fact that filling a tank with liquid hydrogen has the same timeframe as a typical gasoline model and the emissions are only water vapor, may make this type of vehicle more popular as well. This movement by Great Britain will see its way to more positive outcomes over the next several years as we see more countries join the cause and work toward eliminating gasoline and diesel vehicles from the roads that we drive on every day.
