The success of the Yellowstone television series for Paramount+ leaves the door open for another spinoff from the theme.
The first spinoff from this show, called 1883, is a huge success. Both shows offer you a historical setting in the wild west where the land, animals, and often the people are all untamed. The newest show to join this family is 1932, which takes place forward of the other two shows while carrying a similar theme. All three shows have Taylor Sheridan as the writer and creative mind, which affords them the consistency desired across the platform.
Is the Original Show Done?
With a pair of shows carrying the theme forward, you might wonder if Yellowstoneis continuing forward. This foundational show renewed for season 5, and 1883continues for a second season as well. This means you could have three shows with similar themes and characters to enjoy when the new one arrives on the Paramount+ streaming platform. You can follow the Dutton family and their adventures and challenges in a historical time in one of the roughest areas of the country. All three shows take place in the Montana area, hence the name and setting of the original show.
A Generational Movement for the Dutton Family
Each version of this series on Paramount+ follows a generation of the Duttons and what they face while trying to tame the wild areas of Montana. When 1932arrives, it will be the newest spinoff of Yellowstone, giving us a generation several decades in the future compared to the original series. We might see some unfamiliar faces but will see similar challenges that mired the previous generations. Even though the characters in the later settings have modern technology for that time, the underlying theme is the grit and toughness of the Dutton family and how they continue to loyally work the land.
The Setting is Period-Accurate
Considering the challenges facing the country in the year, which matches the title of the show, we see how the Dutton family struggles. That time is slightly forward of Prohibition of the 1920s and when the Great Depression was at its toughest. This means there’s a good chance we’ll see the family or other families facing financial hardships and trouble with the law as more people move from the east to the west. We might see some real-like characters in the show, which we’ve seen in the other shows carrying this theme.
Anyone who watches 1883is already familiar with James and Margaret, who are the main characters of the second series. During this Yellowstonespinoff, the children from 1883, Elsa, John, and Spencer Dutton, are adults raising their children during an extremely difficult time in history. We might see Kevin Costner, a main character and the patriarch of this family, make an appearance in flashbacks of this new show. We could also see his father, played by Dabney Coleman, showing up in these flashbacks as well, creating more storylines and introducing new characters to the mix.
When Will 1932Appear on Paramount+
Thus far, we have no information regarding the release date of this new series, but we do know that filming will begin in May of 2022. We could see the new series, 1932, arrive before the end of 2022, or, if pushed, it could be part of the fall lineup of new shows offered by Paramount+. With the other two shows continuing onward, there might be some scheduling issues when actors need to play roles for each of these three shows. Thankfully, with a similar theme and basically the same set, all three shows can film at the same time.
Another YellowstoneSpinoff Is Coming
Have you heard about the new show called 6666? If not, you might wonder if it’s going to be a show set in the future. Considering the other spinoffs have years that give us historical settings to show what this family is going through at that time, it seems a smart assumption. This new show is not based on the year but on an extremely popular ranch in Texas. The new show, 6666, will be gritty and unglamorous, showing us some of the roughest and most troublesome aspects of ranching. During this new show, we get to see the perspective of a real cattle ranch.
A True Setting for the Next New Show
As with the other shows in this family, the newest show also features historically accurate settings and challenges. The Sixes, as the ranch is known and why the show is called 6666, is one of the oldest ranches in Texas and in the country. This is a place where cattle breed, horses train, and the people running the ranch face hardships every day. We don’t have a premiere date for this show either, and cast selection remains incomplete.
A New Family for Taylor Sheridan
While still a spinoff of Yellowstone, the 6666 Ranch is a real place, and the story told is that of Samuel “Burk” Burnett. Burk learned ranching in Texas from his father, starting at age 10. By the age of 19, in the year 1870, young Burnett bought 100 head of cattle, all branded with “6666” on them. By 1900, he purchased the 8 Ranch nearby, which he later turned into the 6666 Ranch. Today, Burnett’s great-granddaughter Anne Windforhr Marion owns this range. She died in 2020, and the property was put up for sale.
This Ranch Shows Up in the Shows
The question of whether or not Paramount will film on the 6666 Ranch is one that doesn’t need answering. During season 4 of Yellowstone, some scenes for the show were filmed at this ranch. The series could tell the story of Burnett and turning a small cattle operation into a full-fledged range that now covers more than 266,000 acres of Texas land. That makes this ranch larger than San Antonio and Chicago.
These Yellowstone spinoff shows will give the audience something new and interesting to follow that carries the same theme and settings forward. Will you spend time watching these different shows about the Wild West?
