After 22 Weeks, Which MLB Teams are Leading the Way?

We’re getting ready to begin the final month of the season and want to know which MLB teams are going to be leading the way into the playoffs.

The baseball season is winding down and we’re going to see more of it played during fall weather than in summer temperatures in the very near future. With that in mind, here is how all the teams rank in regards to the Power Rankings.

The Giants Still Stay on Top

For several weeks in a row, the San Francisco Giants have been the best team in baseball and they continue to lead the way with an impressive 84-47 record after 22 weeks. Last week, this team won four of six tames to maintain a lead in the NL West by 2.5 games over the Dodgers. This team is going to be one we see when it’s time for the playoffs to begin.

The Dodgers Move Up to the Second Position

When you’re looking for the MLB teams that are leading the way, you’ll be glad to see the Los Angeles Dodgers are in the second position. This team continues to be in the runner-up spot in the NL West with an 83-49 record through 22 weeks. Unless the Dodgers find a way to pass the Giants they will only secure one of the Wild Card positions in the playoffs.

Third Place Belongs to the Rays

The team that is leading the AL East is found in the third position on this list. That is where we find the Tampa Bay Rays and the record of 83-48 which is strong enough for this team to keep a stranglehold on their division. The Rays have scored the most runs since the All-Star break which allows this team to keep a huge lead.

You’ll find the Yankees in the Fourth Position

After a winning streak that spanned thirteen games, the New York Yankees are certainly one of the MLB teams that are leading the way to the playoffs. Currently, this team holds the top AL Wild Card spot with a record of 76-55. Many of the games this team has won were close scores and only one or two-run differentials.

Moving to the Fifth Spot, We See the Brewers

For many weeks, the Milwaukee Brewers have held the lead in the NL Central where they continue to be the top team and the one to beat. This team carries an 80-52 record through 22 games to give us an impressive team that will be extremely tough to beat in the playoffs. The Brewers just might be the team that others don’t want to see.

We See the Astros in the Sixth Spot

Another team that has been leading its division for most of the year is the Houston Astros. This team brings a 78-53 record through 22 weeks to be one of the MLB teams we just might see in the World Series. Of course, many baseball fans would hate to see this team do well when the postseason arrives, but it is possible for them to make a deep run.

Check Out the Seventh Position with the White Sox

The AL Central has been led by the Chicago White Sox for a long time and it doesn’t seem this team is going to lose the lead on this division. The record of 76-56 gives this team a huge lead over the team in the second position in this division. We just might see this team make it through the rest of the American League.

The Braves Have Gotten Hot

The Atlanta Braves were not previously in the top eight in this list, but now they are. This team holds a record of 70-60 and they are on top of the NL East. Last week started rough but the Braves bounced back by taking several games against other top teams. Will we see the Braves in the playoffs? We will know the answer to that question after the month of September.
