One of the most famous is Magnolia Plantation which is the oldest publicly accessed garden in the country. This garden was first opened to visitors in 1870 but began in the early 1700s. This is home to some of the oldest plants in the country.

Take a Tour of the South Carolina State Museum

The largest museum in the state is this building in Columbia. You’ll find four floors of exhibits to educate you about the natural history, art, culture, science, and technology of the area. Kids can touch many of the exhibits, which means this could be a fun and air-conditioned escape on a hot and humid day. Check out what this museum has to offer.

Visit Charleston Harbor and Fort Sumpter

One of the most famous Southern forts in the country is Fort Sumpter. This is where a battle took place during the Civic War on April 12, 1861 which is when the war began. Enjoy a guided tour with takes of the battles and the start of this war. You can also take a walking tour of the USS Yorktown and enjoy the history of this ship.

Over 300 bird species make Huntington Beach their home and are considered to be local for the area. You’ll be amazed at the views of these birds and how they live in the area. While near this location, visit Brookgreen Gardens and take a tour of the sculptures that are found throughout the property. You’re likely to spot a couple of alligators in the area as well, these animals call this area home.
