How Can You Help Others This Holiday Season?

How Can You Help Others This Holiday Season?

You can help others this holiday season by finding a way to give to those in your community no matter how large or small it is.

Do you have more than you need? Are you successful and want to show appreciation for your blessings in life?  Your community expands more than ever before with the use of social media and ways to connect with others to offer them the help desired.

Traditional Holiday Assistance

Every year, the holiday time is when more people reach out and try to help others. There are several great ways to give your time, energy, money, and expertise. While we should do this all year long, most of us can’t imagine being left out when it comes to the winter holiday season. Here are some great traditional ways you can give to others:

Adopt a Family

There are several families in your area that could use help to have a nice holiday. Whether you want to adopt a family on your own or you want to do this as a group effort at your place of business or organization, you can certainly give to a family in need. Contact your local church or community center to learn more about the families that need your assistance. You’ll feel great knowing you helped another family have a special holiday.

Ring a Bell

The Salvation Army is always collecting donations at this time of year with their bucket program with bell ringers outside different businesses. You can volunteer to be one of these bell ringers for an hour or a few hours. This is one of the easiest ways to give your time to a worthy cause that will impact your community. The Salvation Army works to offer support to those in need throughout the year.

Donate a Toy

The Toys for Tots program is a fantastic way to donate a toy to a child who would love one this year. Imagine being a kid and finding nothing under the tree or anywhere in your home when you wake up on Christmas morning. You can donate a toy and make a difference for a child who needs your help. Find out where toys are being collected and make sure you drop one off during the collection times.

Nontraditional Holiday Season Giving

While you can easily think of the traditional ways to give to others this holiday season, there are some nontraditional methods that you can take advantage of as well. The onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has put people out of work, caused many to stay at home, and is certainly the reason some people feel lonely. Use some of these ideas to help those in your own circle.

Reach Out on Social Media

Make a post on your social media accounts to let your friends and family know that you’re willing to help in any way you can. This could be as simple as going to the grocery store to buy the holiday meal and drop it off on their doorstep. By allowing family and friends to send you a direct message, you give them the anonymity they desire when they don’t want others to know they need help.

Offer to Set Up a Zoom Meeting for the Holiday

Do you have family members or friends that won’t be traveling to see each other during the holiday season? You can set up a zoom meeting to meet with them and let them see how you are celebrating the holiday time. Just seeing your face and being able to talk during this meeting could mean the world to someone that has been at home during this pandemic.

Offer to Take Over for an Employee

When you’re the boss or the owner of a business, it’s important you show leadership and caring for your employees. One of the easiest and most impactful ways to help your team is to let them leave early, with pay, and spend more time with their families this holiday. Offer to do this so they can attend a holiday event or to simply allow them a break they deserve.

Find The Right Way to GiveBack this Holiday Season

There are many different ways you can support others and give to your friends, neighbors, family, and community. Whether you choose a traditional method or one that isn’t quite as often used, you’ll feel great giving back and those who receive your gift of giving will appreciate what you’ve done. Make this holiday season one of giving and let your heart be filled with joyful feelings.
