Model X – Is the Tesla Model X the Right SUV for the Lineup?
When you’re shopping for a fantastic luxury SUV, you could make the choice to be environmentally friendly and still have an impressive vehicle to drive. The Tesla Model X is a vehicle that looks like it should be in a futuristic science fiction movie and it moves as fast as it looks. This large, three-row SUV, is able to reach sixty mph in only 3.2 seconds in its top trim level and while you won’t push the Model X this fast very often it’s an impressive model to drive.
The Pros and Cons of the Tesla Model X
Pros
Power – Choosing the top model gives you the P100D trim which uses twin electric motors to give you the speed you want and the ability to get up to speed in an extremely short period of time. The front motor brings you 259 horsepower and the rear produces 503 ponies to make it possible for this big heavyweight to spring down the road faster than models that are svelter in their build.
Technology – Get inside and you’re going to see an amazing interior that has clean lines and a massive screen in the center of the dashboard. This screen is 17-inches in size to offer you the information you need when you drive and the look your passengers can admire as well. Technology is one of the top reasons why the Model X could be the right SUV for you to drive.
Range – The range of an EV is a concern because it does take a while for these models to recharge and be ready to drive again. The Model X is listed at a range of 289 miles on a single charge, which is more than enough driving distance for a few days of driving when you know you don’t have to go too far on a daily basis. This is also plenty of rang for a road trip when you want to take it.
Style – The clean lines and the unique look of the Model X make it an SUV that you’re sure to admire and enjoy when you get behind the wheel. Even though we’ve only seen a few models offered from Tesla for us to enjoy and decide we want to drive, this is one that certainly fits into the same family with some of the other vehicles this brand has offered.
Prestige – There’s no denying the position in the market of the Model X. This SUV belongs in the same class as some of the high-priced luxury vehicles that come from Europe. The Falcon Wing rear doors make it easy to see that Tesla has added some items that we don’t need, but certainly want to enjoy when it’s time to head out for a great drive.
Cons
Value – When you shop for the Tesla Model X you’re not shopping for value for your money. This SUV can crest the price range at $150,000 and it won’t even reach 300 miles on a single charge. Even so, if you want to drive a vehicle that many people are going to admire and be amazed by, this is one that certainly can be the right choice for your driving pleasure.
Form Over Function – The features you find in the Model X might feel like they’ve been overdone and only added to make this SUV look and feel cool on the road. The rear Falcon Wing doors are the most glaring example of this and don’t add anything to the vehicle except a cool factor. If you want to have a vehicle that captures your imagination, the Model X certainly does that for you.
Build Quality – There have been some reports that the Model X was offered with a ton of quality issues that would be hard to swallow on an entry-level economy car. That makes paying the six figures for this SUV a hard pill to deal with, but Tesla has done an exceptional job of resolving many of these quality issues and the Model X you buy today will be one that’s easier to enjoy.
Company Future – This would be the case with any startup company in an industry filled with giants. Tesla has only been around for a few years and whether or not it continues to be a strong and stable company is still to be seen. The following and desire for Tesla models by masses of people should give you some peace of mind to know you’ll be able to enjoy your Model X for years to come.
