If you’re an avid Netflix watcher, then you already know that there is a treasure trove of shows available for your binge watching pleasure. Even with all of the different preferences in the world, there is something for everyone. If your TV routine isn’t doing it for you anymore, check out some of the shows you may have missed over the years and catch up on Netflix.
The Top Five Shows You May Be Missing
1. Sons of Anarchy –This show had a pretty wide viewing audience during its run, but its inarguable that their numbers have spiked since its release to Netflix. The series, in its entirety is available for your viewing pleasure and even if you think you’re not into biker gangs and gun running, give it a shot. The show previously aired on a cable channel, however, so language is a bit more colorful than it would be a major network show. If you have kids, wait until they’re in bed before watching. The show can be violent, but it also has beautiful dramatic moments and echoes of Hamlet.
2.Shameless (U.S.) –FollowFrank, Fiona, Lip, Ian, Debbie, Carl, and Liam through the fabulous life of the Gallagher family on this Showtime show. This one is still running, so you may have to wait for some of the newer seasons, but you can check out eight seasons on Netflix right now. This show is part comedy, part drama, and part tragedy but it’s so entertaining to watch. You’ll take an untraditional journey through such touchy subject matter as substance abuse, infertility, marital troubles, depression, and money issues and you won’t regret a single minute of the time spent. This is another one you may want to watch without your kids.
3.Parenthood –Featuring an all-star cast this family drama is everything you should be watching. Viewers follow the Braverman family as they learn to live together and be a family, one triumph or trouble at a time. Heralded as showing a very realistic portrayal of a child with autism, this show was popular during it’s run on network television, but it’s gained some fame since.
4.The Walking Dead –Yes, this is the zombie show that everyone has been talking about for the past several years. Even if you’re not a horror genre fan, this show is still worth the watch. It’s less about the zombies and more about how far a human being is willing to go to stay alive and protect their loved ones. It’s a great statement about love and life in the face of severe adversity, so don’t wait. Check it out today, but keep your kids out of the room, it can get pretty graphic. This one is also still airing on television, so keep that in mind when you’re binge-watching.
5. Orange is The New Black –When this show started showing up on Netflix preview screens, announcing that it was an original series, people were initially suspicious. People who had read the book upon which this show is based thought they knew what to expect, but they didn’t. This, one of the first of Netflix’s originals, took people by storm and they became immediately invested in the lives of the women housed in the fictional prison in Connecticut. This one is definitely not safe for your kid’s eyes, as there is a great deal of nudity, cursing, and violence.
If you’re already setting time aside for yourself, or if you’re thinking that cutting the cable cord will be a massive loss of entertainment, try out one of these shows. You won’t be sorry!
