DriveShare lets you Drive Your Dream Car Without Buying It

Being able to drive a car you’ve dreamed about for many years can allow you to check off some boxes on your bucket list, but owning one may be a problem. The cost associated with purchasing a classic car that you know you want to enjoy can be astronomically high. Along with the cost to purchase and restore a classic car, you’ll have to put in the time to have the vehicle brought back to life and improved to be able to drive the way you want. If you don’t want to go through the trouble of owning a classic car, you need to have a solution and be able to drive the car you want. DriveShare allows you to drive the car of your dreams without purchasing the vehicle so you can avoid the huge price tag.

Air B&B to the Rescue

The success of the home sharing site Air B& B has made some in the automotive industry think they could do the same with cars. When you exchange homes or rent your home out for a period of time by using Air B&B, you allow those that want to visit where you live to take their vacation in a location that’s attractive to them and make it easier for them to enjoy the comforts of home without the high cost of a hotel.

Because home sharing has worked out as well as it has, the classic car insurance company Hagerty has created DriveShare. This is a ride-sharing service that uses exotic and classic cars. With this service, you can have the ability to drive your favorite dream car for a day or more and experience what this car is like without the daunting tasks associated with ownership. This is a service that brings classic cars to you with the accessibility you want, but there are some conditions you’ll have to consider.

The Protection for DriveShare

What would stop a person from choosing the DriveShare program and tearing up the car like they would a typical rental car? Because the owners of the exotic and classic cars offered have spent years restoring their vehicles and caring for them, Hagerty requires everyone to be vetted to make sure they know how to be responsible with the vehicle they borrow. When it comes to the financial aspects of the vetting process a person wanting to borrow one of these cars will have to put a $500 deposit down and have a rental protection policy that is valued at $1 million. These fees do offer the benefit of roadside assistance in case the classic car happens to stop working while driving.

Right now there are around 135 cars that are available in the US to drive using the DriveShare service. These vehicles range from a 1931 Ford Model A that will cost $179 per day on up to a 2015 Lamborghini Aventador that is priced at $3,300 per day. Using this service can allow you to drive the car you’ve always dreamed of without the need to own it yourself, making the connection between you as an enthusiast and the owner of the car that you’ll get to enjoy.
