There are some places where you can earn a license to drive just about any vehicle that’s built, including those built from odd items that aren’t even considered to be vehicles on the road. Great Britain is one of these places and it’s the home to sofas that drive and the world’s quickest electric road car and now it is home to the worlds fastest shed. For most of us, the thought of taking a shed out on the road seems ridiculous one man has made it happen with the help of a Volkswagen Passat.
What’s This Shed Made From
In order to build a shed that can drive the person building it must first start with a vehicle that can be used for the base of the project. Kevin Nicks started with an unlikely choice to carry the heavy load of this building by using a Volkswagen Passat that is powered by a 2.8-liter V6 engine. This little car offered up 200 horsepower to give this shed a true form that it can enjoy when out on the road. Amazingly enough, this little car was a good choice and this shed has been registered and licensed.
The challenge Kevin faced when he built this shed was to make it the fastest one in the world. I’m not sure how many sheds are driving around on the road, but he felt this vehicle/building combination needed to have more power to make it much better to drive. In order to have more power, he added a bottle of nitrous oxide to add an additional 75 horsepower to the build and make it a vehicle that would be somewhat respected when he took it to the track to show off to the delight of many others who chose to watch.
Kevin loves his sheds and made this a build he was able to complete with his daughter in order to have a lot of fun and create a vehicle/ building combination that allows him to bring a shed full of tools where he wants to go but also show off. This vehicle weighs in at over two tons and has the aerodynamics of a pair of Land Rover Defenders welded to a Mercedes G-Class, which is to say this is akin to trying to push a wall of air down the track, creating a constant fight between the air and the vehicle.
What Does Kevin do with His Shed / Volkswagen Passat?
This has become a show vehicle and a rolling advertisement for his business, but most of all; this has become a vehicle that is used to help raise money for different organizations. This impressive and immense vehicle recently showed off an attempt to reach a new top speed. The old top speed for this shed was 88 mph and Kevin took to the track with the goal of reaching 100 mph in this shed. He was able to make it to 96.831 mph, which is pretty close and an excellent run in this crazy Volkswagen Passat vehicle. Learn more by watching the video below.
