Why Trump’s numbers stick: Even HE admits his supporters are sheep
The candidate with the highest unfavorable rating this Presidential election cycle also seems to have the most dedicated core disciples. Now, Donald Trump is getting as bold as he’s ever been by saying something both insulting and hilarious about his own supporters.
“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” he said.

It was a boast about how popular he is, but it also points to something that people have been saying for a while: his supporters seem immune to reason, insult, and common sense. It doesn’t matter to them that many of his policy proposals are untenable, including a proposed budget and tax plan that, according to the Tax Foundation, will add over $10 trillion to the national debt – more in one term than President Obama was able to do in two terms. It also doesn’t matter to them that his moral and ethical standards seem below those of an average American, let alone someone who is supposed to represent the country to the rest of the world.
We’ve reached the “Trump mocks his own supporters” stage of Trumpmania https://t.co/CG3NsEqaWu

Donald Trump is taunting us all, now. It’s as if he really didn’t think he would make it this far but now that he’s crossed the threshold with the Iowa caucus around the corner, his supporters are at the point of no return. His liberal colors are coming out in bright neon. The Republican Establishment is starting to embrace him as their only hope of not getting a conservative in the White House. Mainstream media is keeping their fingers crossed that they will have a ratings firestorm by dropping bombs on him if he gets the GOP nomination.
A typical Trump boast, but almost feels like he's mocking his own supporters with this one.https://t.co/XxGMImhxkk

The problem, as has been detailed recently, is that Donald Trump’s supporters are weak authoritarians. They want a leader to tell them what to do and how to think. Never before has the chance for a “strong” leader like him been presented to his feeble core supporters. Keep in mind that the majority of Trump’s supporters would prefer a dictator over a participatory government even if the United States government isn’t designed to cater to their inherent authoritarian need to be told what to do.
Donald Trump’s supporters are sheep. The fact that he’s willing to admit it won’t sway them. They want a “strong” leader who will tell them how to think and what to do. Trump doesn’t represent the worst part of America. His supporters do.
