Ted Cruz: Republicans need evangelicals to vote
They key to a Republican victory in the 2016 presidential election will be evangelical pastors getting their congregations to vote, according to GOP candidate Ted Cruz. His father, a pastor, is helping this concept along by travelling the country to churches working with other pastors to get the Christian voters out to the polls.
“Nothing is more important in the next 18 months than that the Body of Christ rise up and that Christians stand up, that pastors stand up and lead.” the senator from Texas said in an interview with American Family Radio.
Cruz, a Southern Baptist, has been holding faith as a central part of his campaign. This has yielded condemnation of the Iranian nuclear deal and a call to defund Planned Parenthood.
According to Baptist News:
Cruz, in the middle of a tour of Southern primary states, said if elected he would do five things on this first day in office. First, he would “rescind every single unconstitutional and illegal executive action taken by President Obama.” Then we would “direct the Department of Justice to open an investigation into Planned Parenthood and prosecute any and all criminal conduct.”
