‘Nuclear party pooper’ Netanyahu warns that Iran deal won’t keep them from getting nukes
Some would call it the sound of a broken record. Others would say that the Prime Minister of Israel is simply trying to keep a country bent on its destruction from having the very weapon that could make it happen. Regardless of which side of the fence you’re on, Benjamin Netanyahu will continue to let you know that the only way to prevent Iran from building or acquiring a nuclear weapon is to make them halt all nuclear activities and to sell of their fissile materials to a more responsible nation.
He made his most recent declaration on Tuesday and claimed that he’s not alone with his sentiment. Others in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and Egypt, have warned that a nuclear Iran would force them to build their own nuclear arsenals.
“I know I’m often portrayed as the nuclear party pooper, and that would be okay if I was the only voice against the impending deal with Iran,” he said at a security conference at Herzliya near Tel Aviv.
The United Nations is in negotiations with Iran to end sanctions that have crippled their economy in exchange for a halt of nuclear activities. An agreement is close but one that western powers such as France have stated would be unlikely to truly prevent Iran from building the bomb.
According to Yahoo News:
In a possible move to allay concerns, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey on Tuesday held meetings with his Israeli counterpart as well as Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon, who praised the close coordination between the allies.
