Is Apple getting into the home management app game?

If reports are to be believed (and that’s not always the case with Apple rumors) then Apple may be getting into the home management arena. The growing trend of “connected homes” is making it very appealing for tech giants, particularly those in the mobile device world. Apple seems to be a perfect fit to follow Microsoft in this burgeoning segment.

Keep in mind that they’ve already been part of the “home control” market with their HomeKit-compatible products, but the realm of apps would both secure their place in the field as well as potentially muscle out others who are more embedded… including their own divisions. That’s okay, though, because once they’re in, the short term loss will be minimal compared to long-term gains.

According to Mashable:

While Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment, we know a few tidbits about Apple TV integration already. To start, previously-announced HomeKit products will need to work with Apple TV when it comes to using Siri remotely (i.e. if you are asking your phone to dim the lights while at the office). But an Apple TV isn’t required to control devices at home if you’re accessing the Wi-Fi network there and asking Siri for help.
