Netflix is testing a new “Tweet Me a Reminder” feature
Netflix offers a bunch of content, which is excellent for subscribers, but it can be difficult for them to keep track of the service’s constantly changing library, especially in relation to new shows that they might be interested in or new seasons for shows that they’re already watching. That’s the problem that Netflix hopes “Tweet Me a Reminder” will be the solution to.
Twitter user @RichBTIG was the first to discover the new feature alongside a promotional tweet for Netflix’s upcoming original series, Marco Polo. When viewed from the Web or a mobile app, a large “Tweet Me a Reminder” button appears. Clicking the button and following a few short steps will make it so that you’re automatically notified when the show’s next episodes become available, according to Digital Trends.
When asked to explain how “Tweet Me a Reminder” works, Netflix told The Next Web: “The reminder will come in as an @Reply from the @MarcoPoloMP Twitter account, directed at each user who has opted in, as soon as the episodes are available at 12:01AM Pacific time on December 12, and will include a custom video message from the cast.”
This is certainly a clever way for Netflix to help users keep track of the individual shows that they’re interested in watching without having to deal with a plethora of advertisements for other shows. As of now, the feature only works with Marco Polo, but Netflix will undoubtedly expand it to more of its offerings.
