Zelda Williams takes to Twitter to pay tribute to her father
The 25-year-old actress and daughter of Robin Williams, Zelda Williams, took to Twitter and Instagram yesterday to pay tribute to her father, who had been pronounced dead at the age of 63 just a few hours prior after his body was found at his home in Tiburon, California from an apparent suicide.
Ms. Williams posted a touching quote from the “The Little Prince”, a book by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. It read: “You – you alone will have the stars as no one else has them… In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing,” it read. “And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night… You – only you – will have the stars that can laugh.”
The father-daughter duo were exceptionally close to each other, and often accompanied each other on the red carpet. Zelda, who was the Williams and his second wife, also starred in a Nintendo commercial with her father back in 2011. In the commercial, Zelda asks her dad if he’s confusing her with the fictional video game character. He smiles back, “Hard to say, you’re both pretty magical”.
The actor’s wife, Susan Schneider, released a statement on behalf of her family earlier Monday which read: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin’s death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
