Teenager tries to drain an entire pond to retrieve his lost iPhone
A 16-year-old German boy dropped his iPhone over the side of a boat while he was out on a fishing trip. While this is isn’t exactly interesting news, the length he went to in order to retrieve the iPhone, which involved him draining the entire pond, is very interesting.
After an angling club refused to allow the teenager to dive into the pond for his cell phone, he sneaked back to the pond a few hours after the fishing trip ended, and this time he was armed with pumps and two hoses.
The teenager attempted to direct the pond water into the club’s toilet, which unfortunately, flooded the parking lot and alerted the authorities. The police eventually caught the teenager before he had finished draining the pond and foiled his plan to retrieve his iPhone.
“I thought two pumps would drain enough of the water from the pond so I could find my cellphone,” he told German media, according to Metro. “I knew the phone was probably dead but wanted to get the data card back with the numbers, pictures and videos of my friends.”
He confessed to his desperate and elaborate plan and was ordered to pay for the damages to the club’s toilet, as well as cover the cost of the clean-up and refilling the pond. The worst part about all of this is that the teenager still didn’t get his phone back.
