Google Flexes its Political Muscles Behind the Scenes
Google has been very public about its desire to stay out of politics. They don’t want to lobby. They don’t want to interfere. They don’t want politics to interfere with them.
Now, it seems that Google is trying to get involved without actually getting involved. They want to get their way. They just don’t want anyone to know about it. In a recent report from the Washington Post, details are coming out that the search giant is participating in policy more than they would have us all believe:
What the guests had not been told was that the day-long academic conference was in large part the work of Google, which maneuvered behind the scenes with GMU’s Law & Economics Center to put on the event. At the time, the company was under FTC investigation over concerns about the dominance of its famed search engine, a case that threatened Google’s core business.
