Located in the heart of Central America, Honduras is renowned for its beautiful beaches and unspoiled wildlife havens that attract thousands of tourists from around the world. Yet, few know that Tela, Atlántida also has one of the best golf courses in the Americas at the Indura Beach & Golf Resort.
This golf course is all any true lover of the sport could ask for, and here we share the top five reasons why you should visit.
1 | Honduras is hosting the PGA Tour Latinoamérica in 2016
After the great success of the inaugural Honduras Open last year, this leading golf tournament has selected Indura as a site for the PGA Tour Latinoamérica for the second consecutive year.
If the world’s best golf players compete at Indura, wouldn’t you like to play here?
2 | A course designed by one of the best golfers in history
The golf course was designed by Gary Player, considered one of the top three golfers in history. Player won nine majors tournaments: the Masters in 1961, 1974 and 1978, U.S. Open 1965, the British Open in 1959, 1968 and 1974 and the PGA Championship in 1962 and 1972.
Gary Player is also a renowned golf course architect with more than 325 design projects worldwide. Since the early 1980s, Player is also a world leader in designing golf courses that respect the ecosystems in which they are built, and look to maintain the natural characteristics of the site.
3 | A golf course like you have never seen before
The golf course has 18 holes and five starts, allowing all types of players to use the field. Whether you’re a professional or an amateur, Honduras is the ideal place to play golf.
The complex also has nine holes located in the middle of the jungle where birds, monkeys, ocelots, crocodiles and pichinches will witness your game. The remaining nine holes have a privileged view of the spectacular Jeannette Kawas and Punta Izopo nature reserves.
4 |The stunning natural beauty of Tela
The tourist complex that houses the golf course is recognized as one of the most naturally beautiful landscapes with the richest biodiversity in Honduras.
Due to its proximity to the coast and its tropical climate, Tela is well known for having beautiful freshwater lagoons separated from the sea by strips of coastline, amazing beaches and nearly virgin coastal ecosystems with rare native species.
5 |The warmth of the Honduran people
Those who have visited Honduras know that the warmth of its people is the true essence of this tropical country, endowed with a unique natural beauty. Nowadays, Honduras has become a host for world-class golf tournaments, like the PGA Tour Latinoamérica, and undoubtedly the best destination for any golf lover.
