Two al-Shabaab members executed in Somalia for journalist assassination

In an effort to halt violence and intimidation by al-Qaeda linked al-Shabaab, the Somalian government executed two members by firing squad today. The two members, Abdirisak Mohamed Barow and Hassan Nur Al, reportedly confessed to being part of the militant terrorist organization in court.

The African nation hopes to find stability for the first time in decades with upcoming elections, but al-Shabaab is intent on continuing the chaos.

Hindia Haji Mohamed was a producer and reporter for state-run outlets Radio Mogadishu and Somali National TV. She was assassinated when a remote detonated bomb was planted beneath her car seat.
