IAEA will run out of money to monitor Iran by the end of Sept 2015

A disturbing announcement was made by the IAEA where it states that money given to the agency to monitor Iran is running out. The funds for the Joint Plan of Action, which is a pact signed by Iran and the P5+1 that began in January 2014, will be exhausted by the end of September 2015.

Each month it uses approximately $924,000 for the purpose of meeting the demands of the JPA which freezes part of Iran’s nuclear program. In July of this year however, Iran and the United States struck a deal that resulted in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

The United States has assured the IAEA members that it will provide all necessary resources to continue forward with the new Comprehensive Plan and ensuring it can meet the nuclear-related commitments. Some of those commitments were laid out earlier this month.

Let’s hope in the time it takes for the IAEA to get all the new equipment, staff and money it needs to meet the demands of the new agreement Iran doesn’t buy enough time to do the unthinkable.
