Walking is so yesterday. WalkCar does it for you.

Those who walk often to get to work, class, or anywhere might be in better shape than the rest of us, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t like to occasionally take a break and let something else do the walking for them. If that fits you, then the WalkCar might be a perfect solution.

The lightweight personal transportation device is ideal for getting around without expending very much energy. You just stand on it and shift your weight to steer. The device, designed by Cocoa Motors, is the size of a laptop. It was envisioned by 26-year-old engineer Kuniako Saito and his team to help people get to where they want to go without having to drive a car, park a Segway, or exert much of their own physical power.

The WalkCar has a top speed of just over six miles per hour and can travel over seven miles on a single charge. It’s not just for little people, either; maximum weight that it can take is over 250 lbs. At $800, it’s a lot cheaper than most other vehicles.
