In 2015, the Legend Continues for the Jeep Wrangler

The original, the namesake, and still the one that carries Jeep on its back and lets the world marvel at what true off road capability continues to be is the amazing Jeep Wrangler. As a highly sought after model, it’s no wonder the Wrangler won the Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Award for 2015 in its class. Offered in either a two door or four door version, the Wrangler is what off roading all is about regardless of the destination. Wranglers have been seen fitted with huge wheel and touring beaches where other vehicles can’t reach as well as traversing the mountains of a variety of locations around the country.

Even though there is no real competitor for the Wrangler the Toyota 4Runner and Nissan Xterra are what might come the closest, but still fall very short. When it comes to off road abilities, the Wrangler has proven time and again it’s the best choice with no exception. The only changes over time have been the inclusion of more advanced technology, but at its heart the Wrangler remains very true to its roots. For 2015 the Wrangler adds a 31-inch tire package on the sport modes and all receive a standard Torx tool kit to make the roof removal a breeze. The new eight-speaker sound system can also be upgraded to a nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system, all new for this year.

If you were to find a Wrangler from many years ago, the basic setup would be the same as it is today. This is what has given the Wrangler its amazing off road abilities for so long. The Wrangler towers over the road with exceptional ground clearance and is set up with an off road suspension and steering system that make a great impression on the road as much as off the road allowing for an enjoyable ride when the adventures are over for the weekend. The Wrangler obviously is made for off road enjoyment where an owner can easily crawl over boulders and take on difficult trails knowing this amazing Jeep is going to get through no matter what the terrain offers.

Under the hood of the Wrangler sits an awesome 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that takes care of all the needs this awesome Jeep could have. This engine offers up 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque to give plenty of grunt work to this trail crawler. This engine is attached to either a six-speed manual or five speed automatic transmission and shows up with fuel numbers of 17 city/21 hwy mpg for the base manual, 17 city/20 hwy mpg for the Wrangler Unlimited automatic and 17 city/21 hwy mpg for the Wrangler Unlimited manual. Even though this does not excite anyone who is looking for some fuel efficiency, the Wrangler has never been built to deliver great fuel efficiency, but to be an off road leader.

For those looking for luxury, elegance, and grace, look somewhere else, the Jeep Wrangler is none of these. The Wrangler, even on the inside is rugged, tough, and built for utility and not comfort. The Sport model brings in cloth seats with leather at higher trim levels. The rear seats fold flat to add plenty of cargo space and the Unlimited model has twice the cargo space behind the rear seat as the standard two-door model. The driver is fed an array of information from the gauge cluster but a majority of what they need to know is viewed outside the windows where the Wrangler makes its way through a variety of trails and across areas where only a truly dynamic four-wheel drive beast can roam.

On the outside the Jeep Wrangler is the most recognizable Jeep in either two or four-door models. As an original model, Jeep doesn’t change its shape as this has proven to be one of the best features of the Wrangler for generations. Made to withstand the tough roads and trails wherever it goes every aspect of the Wrangler is built with this in mind. The windshield folds flat to allow the driver to lean over the hood, the wheels are situated at the extreme corners of the vehicle in order to allow approach and departure angles that no other vehicle has and this amazing vehicle continues to show off in the wilderness as the right choice to get the job done.

Regarding standard equipment, the Wrangler has been the model of equipment additions for years. The standard items on the Wrangler include the engine and a dynamic four-wheel drive system. Added standard features include stability control with roll mitigation, hill start assistance, trailer sway control and the Torx tool kit made to have the tools needed to remove the top and doors easily. That’s about all the creature comforts on a base model, which is expected for the Wrangler. After market equipment is available at a variety of dealers to improve the base Wrangler, but there are also a ton of options to choose from.

The optional equipment for the Wrangler is a long list which allows owners to gain a vehicle that is awesome at all angles. These features include a choice of final-drive ratios, packages such as the Black Steel Package, 31-inch Dueler Tier Package and Freedom III Package which all offer extra equipment and technology for owners to fully appreciate the true capabilities of a Jeep. Other features include the Trail Kit and Trailer-Tow Package to allow the Wrangler to become an even better “get away from it all” vehicle. As mentioned the after-market industry is full of amazing equipment to add to the Wrangler and give it a distinct personality.

To own the best trail rider on the market will not cause the need to be extremely rich or send you crying to the bank. The basic Jeep Wrangler Sport shows up with a starting price of $23,500 with the four-door Unlimited Sport coming in around $3,800 more. At the top end the fully loaded Sahara or Rubicon models can reach well over the $40,000 mark. The various packages can offer a range of prices to make the Jeep Wrangler exactly what any owners wants it to be for them. At its core, the Wrangler has been and probably always will be a trail rider that exceeds all others, and that is what makes it such an awesome vehicle.
