Amazon is launching its own line of Prime-exclusive products

Amazon has announced its own line of consumer goods called Amazon Elements that will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime members. The new lineup, which currently only includes diapers and baby wipes, will feature labels that can be scanned by the company’s mobile app in order to find a plethora of information on the product, including where the product was made and what it’s made out of, according to Geek Wire.

“Our obsession with customers and drive to continuously innovate on their behalf has led us to create Amazon Elements. The two things customers told us they want are premium products that meet their high standards, and access to information so they can make informed decisions, Amazon Elements offers both,” said Sunny Jain, the vice president of Amazon Consumables.

Elements will be made up of inexpensive products that’re targeted at parents who’re concerned about what went in to making their child’s diapers, as well as where that diaper will end up, when it’s disposed. Businessweek explains that Amazon will offer information to customers about the contents and source of the product.

“We’ve leveraged our strengths in technology to bring customers an unprecedented level of information about these products, all with just the click of a button. We’re excited to offer Amazon Prime members added selection, beginning with diapers and baby wipes,” Jain continued in an official press release.

Tech Crunch was informed by an Amazon spokesperson that the company has, as of yet, no plans to extend the services outside of Prime, saying: “We are constantly adding value to the Amazon Prime membership program. Amazon Elements adds greater selection and convenience for Prime members.”
