Durant and Thunder Pretending Like Ibaka Won’t be on Floor

Forget the rumors. Deny the speculation. As far as Oklahoma City Thunder superstar and reigning MVP Kevin Durant is concerned, there will not be a dominating force in the middle of the floor during any of the games they’ll be playing the rest of the playoffs, including today’s game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs.

The loss of Serge Ibaka in the final game of their previous series hit the team hard. It was clear in their two embarrassing losses against San Antonio that they missed the presence of the man in the middle who is having his best season ever. It was originally reported that Ibaka was out the rest of the playoffs, but now speculation around his condition as “day-to-day” is making people ask whether he will try to come back and save the series that is slipping away from the Thunder.

Besides the team’s laughable inability to defend the rim without Ibaka, they are sorely lacking a third offensive option when he isn’t out there. Then again, the dominance the Spurs have shown might prove to be too much even if Ibaka returns.
